Curriculum and Academics

Student success comes first at Comal ISD, and our departments work together with the Teaching, Learning & Leadership and Student Services teams to co-lead this effort with an end goal of having every student be college, career and/or military ready upon graduation.

Comal ISD Curriculum

Our district is committed to providing every student with a high-quality, coherent learning experience. To support this vision, we have developed a curriculum that clearly articulates the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and ensures consistent learning expectations across all campuses.

This curriculum is intentionally aligned with district-adopted instructional resources, helping teachers deliver instruction that is rigorous, relevant, and accessible for all learners. By combining TEKS clarity with thoughtfully selected materials, we empower educators with the tools and guidance they need to plan, teach, assess, and support student learning effectively.

Our curriculum is continuously reviewed and refined to reflect current best practices, evolving standards, and the needs of our students—ensuring a strong foundation for success in every classroom, every day.

Year-at-a-Glance

To provide families and educators with a clear overview of what students will be learning throughout the year, our district has created Year at a Glance (YAG) documents for each core content area. These resources outline the major units of study and the general pacing for instruction across the school year.
