Farias-Spitzer Proposed Attendance Boundaries

In August 2023, Comal ISD will be opening a new elementary school, Farias-Spitzer Elementary, located at 1475 State Hwy 46 S. This new elementary school will provide enrollment relief for both Freiheit and Clear Spring Elementary Schools and could potentially pull some students from Goodwin-Frazier Elementary.

 

Based on the feedback, the proposed maps have been consolidated the proposed boundary map below will go to the Comal ISD board of trustees for final approval on February 23. There will be an open transfer window for current teachers to say they would like to go to the new campus. Once the window has closed, teachers not currently employed by Comal ISD will be able to apply.
We will fully staff the campuses and offer the full array of services to the new campuses that we offer currently all other elementary campuses in Comal ISD. 
We will not offer a grandfather option for students at the elementary level. Our grandfathering process begins at the secondary level. 
Transportation throughout Comal ISD is not assured. It is evaluated each year based on our staffing and operational needs. Based on the current NSZ calculation, the neighborhoods east of 1101 and Barbarosa will be the only service area eligible for transportation. 
There are two entrances to the campus that are not located on HWY 46. The first entrance will be located off Deborah Drive, the second entrance will be located off Saengerhalle Rd. 
The new boundaries will go into effect for the 2023-2024 school year. 
The campus principal will develop drop-off and pickup traffic patterns in conjunction with the Safety and Security department.  Plans will be communicated to the community prior to the first day of school. 
Yes, we will offer SACC programs at this campus.
