Background

This process began in September of 2022 with the formation of Comal Forward, which convened from September to January to study the needs of the district.
The 66-member committee was made up of a diverse group of parents, staff, community leaders, and residents both new to Comal ISD and those who were born and raised in the district.

The committee viewed and analyzed current conditions at multiple campuses and across district programs, heard from district staff, and consulted the results of a community survey of voters. Following months of review, discussion and consideration, the committee presented its recommendations to the Board on January 26, 2023.

Comal Forward

Based on the recommendations from Comal Forward, further research by the Board of Trustees, and two workshops where the Board of Trustees met with district administration and staff to refine the project list, the Comal ISD Board of Trustees voted to call for a $634,659,847 bond election that will go before voters on Saturday, May 6, 2023. The bond proposal will appear on the ballot as three separate propositions.

If approved by voters, this bond proposal will not result in an increase to the district tax rate.
