Comal Forward
More than 50 parents and community members are part of Comal Forward, this committee will meet monthly through January to discuss the challenges and opportunities that the district faces as it continues to grow on average 1,600 students a year.
“I feel like it is important to be a part of this committee so that I can inform my neighbors, my family members and my friends of what the district is facing when it comes to new schools, new athletic facilities and so forth,” says Laci Harrison, a parent with students at Mountain Valley Middle School who has served on previous Comal Forward Committees. “The decisions we make today will not only affect our kids but future generations and the community as well.”With 589 square miles, it is important for the district to hear from all its stakeholders when it comes to addressing its needs such as determining where and when to build new schools; ensuring that existing facilities are properly maintained and updated; purchasing land for future growth; and providing classroom technology that students need.
