590 Employee Recognition Program
Comal ISD's strategic plan lists the district's culture and commitments as: learn and perform your job with high expectation, deliver exceptional customer service, work for the team, and own our student performance. To support the culture and commitments, Comal ISD recognizes exceptional customer service through the "590" Program. The mission of the 590 program is to award and recognize our employees across the district's 589 square miles who have gone above and beyond that 'extra mile' to ensure our students, families, employees and all customers receive outstanding service and courtesy representing our culture and commitments.
Comal ISD staff are provided training on our customer service philosophies through a professional development curriculum learning customer service etiquette that features video tutorials and instructional resources. Employees are supported with their customer service skills using the L.A.S.T. method (Listen, Acknowledge, Solve, and Thank).
590 Employees of the Month are selected at all campuses during the academic year. 590 members are recognized by the Superintendent for their 590 level service with a certificate, 590 window sticker, lapel pin, desk award, and given a free service in exchange for his or her outstanding customer service. Each campus will select one Employee of the Year, chosen from the pervious Employees of the Month recipients. One Elementary, one Secondary and one Support Staff Employee of the Year will be honored at the annual Employee Recognition Banquet in May.
Our goal is to provide our customers with an exceptional experience when they visit our campus and offices. We view the opportunity to serve our customers as a privilege, and we strive to perform at a level above or exceeding their expectations. To better measure our performance we offer a framework for parents to participate in a customer service survey, and customer service self assessments for employees.
