Three National Merit Semifinalists, 14 Commended Scholars Recognized by Board of Trustees

Nov. 18, 2022 - The Comal ISD Board of Trustees recognized 16 student scholars during its regular meeting Nov. 17. They included three National Merit Semifinalists and 14 National Merit Commended Scholars based on their performance on the PSAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying exam. One student earned both recognitions.

Of the 1.5 million students who took the qualifying exam, only 16,000 qualify as Semifinalists. This year, Comal ISD has three. They are Noah Bliss from Davenport High School who is also a National Merit Commended student, Joshua Butler from Smithson Valley High School and Mason Mock from SVHS.

In addition, more than two-thirds of students with the highest scores receive Letters of Commendation in recognition of their outstanding academic promise. This year, Comal ISD has 14 National Merit Commended students.
