Comal ISD Mentoring Program
Make a difference in a child's life. Become a mentor with Comal ISD!
What is Comal ISD Mentoring?
Comal ISD’s mentoring program brings together caring, committed adults from all parts of our community to help students discover their strengths and succeed in school and life. Students participating in the program come from different backgrounds, have a variety of interests, and a wide range of ages. They may need help with academic achievement, character development, problem-solving skills, improving self-esteem, relationships with adults and peers, and school attendance. The main goals as a mentor are to provide personal guidance, encouragement, and emotional support for your mentee.
What is the commitment?
Comal ISD mentors meet once a week with their mentees for 30-45 minutes at school during a scheduled, agreed upon time for one academic year or more. Depending on the child’s age, a mentor might color with them, read to them, create a craft, play a game, or simply spend the time talking.
You are committed to mentor for the duration of the school year. If you and your mentee are both interested, you may continue to meet in subsequent school years.
How do I become a mentor?
Complete a mentor application. After your application is reviewed, you will be contacted to schedule a training which will include a background check and fingerprinting.
