Effective school libraries are a vital hub with equitable access to emerging technologies. They provide curated and open access to a variety of print and digital resources. CISD Library Media Specialists (Librarians) impact student learning by supporting best instructional practices and curriculum standards.
Parent Access Plan
Building strong partnerships between families and school libraries in Comal ISD is essential to fostering a culture of literacy and lifelong learning. When families are engaged with the library, students are more likely to develop a love for reading, access diverse resources, and feel supported in their academic journey. Collaborating with families ensures that library services reflect the values and needs of the community, creating a more inclusive and effective learning environment for all.
Parents have the right to view library resources and catalogs at any time. Catalogs and resources can be accessed through the sidebar links. Parents can set an appointment with the campus librarian to review library materials in person as soon as available. If they need additional time, parents can check out up to 2 books at a time for up to 5 school days under their child’s account.
The Roots & Reads program empowers families with direct access to their student's Follett Destiny account—making it easy (and fun!) to see what books have been checked out, explore borrowing history, and discover which titles students are eligible to check out next. This partnership supports reading growth, fosters transparency, and helps families stay connected to their student's reading journey—together inspiring a lifelong love of literacy!
Board Approval of Library Materials
Per SB13 and Comal ISD EFB (local), library material purchases must be shared with the community to preview 30 days prior to board approval. A community feedback form for the library materials listed for purchase is embedded within the list. The February Library Materials List will be considered on February 26, 2026.
Comal ISD Library Catalogs
Comal ISD catalogs are available for families and community members to access without a log in by clicking the button below. Students can access the catalogs via Class Link to browse the catalog and place books on hold.
