Comal Forward

Why We Meet

Over 60 parents and community members are part of Comal Forward, this committee will meet monthly through May to discuss the challenges and opportunities that the district faces as it continues to grow rapidly.

With 589 square miles, it is important for the district to hear from all its stakeholders when it comes to addressing its needs such as determining where and when to build new schools; ensuring that existing facilities are properly maintained and updated; purchasing land for future growth; and providing classroom technology that students need.

“I feel like it is important to be a part of this committee so that I can inform my neighbors, my family members and my friends of what the district is facing when it comes to new schools, new athletic facilities and so forth,” says Mary Meffert, a parent with students at Smitshon Valley High School. “The decisions we make today will not only affect our kids but future generations and the community as well.”

The discussions and work that the Comal Forward Committee does provides important feedback to the Comal ISD Board of Trustees as it determines the future of Comal ISD.
