Bond 2026 » Proposition A

Proposition A

Facilities, Land & Buses ($539,955,000)

Safety & security

Security upgrades across campuses, including surveillance cameras, secure windows in entry vestibules, upgraded door hardware, and card-reader access control. The proposition also replaces older buses (some with more than 200,000 miles and without seat belts) with buses equipped with seat belts.

Maintenance of existing facilities

Replacement of older building systems (heating and cooling, roofing, electrical, and plumbing) and modernization of older campuses. Energy-efficiency upgrades to HVAC, windows, lighting, and roofing are intended to reduce operating costs.

Capacity for growth

Additional classroom capacity where enrollment is increasing. Elementary schools along the I-35 corridor near New Braunfels are expected to reach or exceed capacity by 2032; a projected shortfall of about 1,300 seats which the package addresses with two new elementary schools, along with land for future campuses and expansions at existing schools.

The bond would allow for expansions at Canyon High School by converting the adjacent Administrative and Support Services building into additional classroom space. These offices, which are for districtwide operations, would be moved to a newly constructed Administrative and Professional Learning Center, on land the district already owns and is located in a more centralized location.

Program and capacity space

Additional package elements include expansions at existing campuses, an addition at Davenport High School, and Career & Technical Education (CTE) space.
