Accident Insurance - MetLife

Group Voluntary Accident coverage from MetLife pays cash benefits for expenses associated with an accidental injury and can help protect hard-earned savings, should an off-the-job accidental injury occur. It also provides a wellness benefit of $200 once per year per family member enrolled.

Cancer Insurance – Guardian

Cancer insurance supplements existing health coverage and can provide cash to help with medical and living expenses. Cancer Insurance from Guardian pays cash benefits for cancer and 20 specified diseases to help with the costs associated with treatments and expenses as they happen.

Critical Illness Insurance – Unum

With Unum Critical Illness Insurance, if you are diagnosed with a covered illness, you get a lump-sum cash benefit to use however you wish - even if you receive benefits from other insurance. Use it how you need it so you can focus on your recovery and not have to worry about money if you get sick.

Disability Insurance – The Hartford

Would you be able to meet your financial obligations if you became disabled and unable to work for an extended period of time? Long Term Disability can help protect your financial health if you are presented with an unexpected loss of income. A short-term Maternity Leave clause is included in this policy.

Life Insurance

Employees are offered the opportunity to purchase Life Insurance for themselves. If they elect life insurance, employees may also elect life insurance for their spouse and/or dependent children. Two types of Life Insurance policies are available for employees to enroll in.
 

Permanent Life Insurance – Texas Life

Individual Permanent Life Insurance is available through Texas Life. Permanent Life insurance is a personally owned, permanent individual life insurance that can never be canceled or reduced as long as you pay the necessary premiums, even if your health changes. The policy is portable and can be continued by bank draft after employment with Comal ISD has ended. Minimum coverage for permanent life begins at $25,000.

Group Voluntary Life Insurance – Unum

Voluntary Group Life Insurance is a term life insurance policy that is offered at reduced rates. Coverage is active as long as you are employed with Comal ISD. Rates increase in five year increments with age. Minimum coverage for term life begins at $10,000 and can be purchased in $10,000 increments up to a maximum of seven times the employee’s annual earnings.

Hospital Indemnity Plan - The Hartford

Hospital Indemnity Insurance pays a cash benefit if you or an insured dependent (spouse or child) are confined in a hospital for a covered illness or injury. Benefits are paid in a lump sum amount to you and can help offset expenses that primary health insurance doesn't cover (like deductibles, co-insurance pr co-pays).
