Academic and Career Advising
Academic, Postsecondary, and Career Advising
Professional School Counselors, Student Support Specialists, and Academic Career Advisors (ACA) help students identify strengths and interests, and plan for the future.
Advising at ES, MS, and HS
At the elementary level students begin to see themselves as learners, connect performance in school to performance in adult roles, and identify educational opportunities available to them in middle school.
At the middle school level students recognize their preferred learning style and link personal skills and interests to future careers. They identify HS graduation requirements and course options in high school that support their career goals.
At the high school level students recognize the relationship between educational achievement and post-secondary planning. They evaluate their goal-setting processes related to future careers, and identify personal reasons for their career choices.
Additionally, high school students have access to Academic Career Advisors.
Academic Career Advisors (ACAs) focus specifically on college, career, and military readiness (CCMR). They help students explore career interests, plan high school courses that align with future goals, and learn about opportunities such as dual credit, industry certifications, scholarships, and workforce programs. Their goal is to ensure every student is prepared and confident about life after graduation.
