The Comal Independent School District Strategic Plan was developed in the spring of 2018 and drives the direction of the district for the next five years. The Strategic Plan focuses on improvement efforts in the areas of academic performance, classrooms and facilities, choice and the recruitment and development of talent.
The process of developing the Strategic Plan began with a review of the 2013 – 2018 Strategic Plan, and continued with a comprehensive review of strategic plans from a variety of organizations (other school districts, state education agencies, private companies, etc.). In July of 2017, administration sought input from the Board of Trustees on the vision and goals for the next five years. Once given a direction from the Board, the administration worked with stakeholders across the district to develop the plan. These stakeholder groups included the following:
- District Educational Improvement Council (DEIC)
- Leadership Team
- Superintendent’s Student Advisory
- Support Services Team (Directors and Coordinators)
- PTA Council
- Teacher Advisory Council
- District Instructional Leadership Team (Principals and Campus Instructional Coaches)
These stakeholder groups provided a great deal of feedback and guidance that administration reviewed continuously. Finally, a group of district leaders came together a number of times between September of 2017 and March of 2018 to shape the plan, which was ultimately presented to and approved by the Board of Trustees in September 2018.
