Health Services & Nurse Guidelines

Before you begin the school year, make sure your child’s immunization and health information is current and has been shared with your school:

  • Students must be current with all Texas required immunizations prior to beginning school. See Texas’ minimum state vaccine requirements.
    • The COVID-19 vaccination is NOT a state required immunization for school enrollment. If your student is 12 years or older and you would like for them to also receive a COVID-19 vaccine, this immunization can occur any time during the immunization process. If you have questions regarding any immunizations, check with your physician or call Comal ISD’s Health Services Coordinator at 830-221-2077.
  • Make sure to document any health concerns or medical conditions in Skyward and make time to discuss these items with your campus nurse. If your student will require any medication or procedures while in school, make sure to obtain the proper paperwork prior to the beginning of the year. Learn more about Comal ISD Health Services.
  • It is critical for the school to be able to contact a parent or guardian in the event of an emergency. Make sure your contact information is current in Skyward as well as listing a few additional persons who may be contacted if your school is unable to reach you.
