The 2023 Bond security technology upgrades started at Goodwin Frazier Elementary as our Proof of Concept and will expand to the rest of the district campuses starting summer 2025.

Goodwin Frazier was chosen as the proof of concept campus due to its infrastructure, being one of our oldest campuses, allowing us to identify challenges that will likely arise when rolling this out across the district.

Future campuses will be built with the new security technology.

The funding for the district wide security technology upgrades is a combination of Bond and Grant funds.

Comal ISD emergency response includes redundant processes and procedures that allow campus administration, staff, and students to be prepared in the event of loss of power.

Comal ISD maintains a strong partnership with the Comal County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO), Bexar County Precinct 3, Bulverde Police Department (BPD), and Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office to provide school resource officers (SROs).

Exterior doors are equipped with self-closing hardware and are regularly checked throughout the instructional day.

The Raptor System ensures that all visitors are screened against the registered sex offender databases in all 50 states.

Visitors will be asked to provide a valid, state/federal issued identification card, which will be scanned using our visitor management system. If you do not have a government issued ID, please call your campus for assistance.

The I Love You Guys Foundation is a foundation that collaborates with schools and first responders to develop school safety protocols. Comal ISD has adopted the I Love You Guys Foundations Standard Response Protocol (SRP), which provides common language around five protective actions campuses can take when an emergency arises.
