T-Pass

The Transportation Pass (T-Pass), issued to grade levels Pre-K-5, allows students to easily scan on and off of the school bus, where previously students were accounted for manually by his or her driver. This will allow transportation personnel and administrators the ability to locate where students were picked up and dropped off in the case of an emergency.

Below are frequently asked questions regarding the T-Pass and how it is used. For additional questions, please contact the Transportation Department at 830-885-9800.

The T-Pass is an RFID enabled card issued to all Pre-K through 5th grade students. This card will be scanned when students both enter and exit the school bus to increase safety and efficiency.
The T-Pass is scanned to an RFID reader when students both enter and exit the school bus. This will allow transportation personnel and administrators the ability to locate where students were picked up and dropped off in the case of an emergency.

The T-Pass DOES NOT actively track your student. It only records their student ID, time, date and location of when they entered and exited the bus.
T-Passes are to be secured to the students backpack and be easily accessible while entering and exiting the school bus. Students will be encouraged to wear their backpacks on his or her front before entering the bus to have better access to scanning their pass.
Students will often be reminded by their bus driver to scan their T-Pass. In the event that a student forgets to scan on but remembers to scan off, (and vice versa) the system will still be able to locate his or her last scanned location.

Should a student forget to scan on and off the bus and they get off at the wrong stop, the bus driver and transportation department will be contacted immediately to locate the child.
If a student gets off at the wrong stop, transportation personnel or a campus administrator will be contacted to look up where your child was dropped off based on his or her last T-Pass scan.
If your child loses their T-Pass, please contact the Transportation Department at 830-885-9800 so they can print a new pass.
The T-Pass (pictured below) will not have a student's photo, but will have his or her name, campus and bus number. All students will receive a holder for the T-Pass to affix to his or her backpack.

Pre-K through 2nd grade students will receive a red T-Pass holder so bus drivers can easily identify younger bus riders.

Students grades 3rd through 5th will receive a clear T-Pass holder.
