Grandfathering Information

Grandfathering Application for Canyon High School Open Jan. 27 – Jan. 31

At the August Board Meeting, the Comal ISD Board of Trustees approved attendance boundaries for Davenport High School for the 2020-21 school year. Students zoned to Danville Middle will attend Davenport High School. Below is the attendance boundary map for Davenport High School starting in the 2020-21 school year.

Current 9th and 10th grade students who are impacted by the boundary change and would like to stay at Canyon High School can apply to be grandfathered. In addition, current 8th grade students who have an older sibling currently enrolled at Canyon High School in 9th through 11th grade, may also be grandfathered. Applications will be accepted online from January 27 – January 31.

Please note that transportation is not provided by the district for grandfathered students.

An online application will be made available online beginning January 27 and will be due January 31. The link will be sent out to parents and posted on this website then.

You can check the map here. Danville Middle School feeds into Davenport High.

No. All entering 9th grade students for the 2020-21 school year must attend Davenport High School. The only exception is if there is an older sibling that will be enrolled at Canyon High School during the 2020-21 school year.
No. If you choose to keep your student(s) at Canyon High School, you will be responsible for providing transportation to and from school starting in 2020-21.
No. You only need to fill out the grandfathering application once. The grandfathering will follow your student through each grade until they graduate high school.

No. You must take the grandfathering option now in order to stay at Canyon High School.

Yes. You can choose later to go to Davenport High School. However, once you make that change, you cannot go back to Canyon High School.
