Physicals FAQ's

On May 1, 2020, UIL Legislative Council voted to adjust the physical examination requirements for student-athletes, cheer, dance, ROTC, and HS marching band participants for the 2020-2021 school year and express its support of continued remote coaching and teaching.

The Comal ISD/UIL Physical Form can be found on the Comal ISD website. There is a link on the main page, as well as, the Athletics and Fine Arts pages.

Traditionally, Comal ISD requires its student-athletes, cheer, dance, ROTC and HS marching band participants to have a yearly physical. Due to time constraints and the awareness of financial struggles related to COVID-19, the UIL legislative council voted to allow returning athletes, cheer, dance, HS band and ROTC participants to use their physicals from the prior school year if they have a clean medical record. Please note this exception is for the 2020-2021 school year only and inthe following years, an annual physical will be required.

The health update form parents complete about their students asks questions that will help inform whether their child is required to receive a physical. If you have a question about whether your child needs a physical after completing the health update form, please contact your child’s coach or sponsor.

Parents or guardians have the option to take their student for a physical if they choose.

Students will turn in their physical forms in person when returning to school, whether that be summer practice or the first day of school.

Yes, there are other health forms, emergency contact forms, and acknowledgements that can all be completed through Rank One. The website is www.comalisd/ You will log in with your student’s id number on this website.

Yes, you may use your physical from the 2019-2020 school year from your former school. You must turn that into the athletic trainer, coach, director, or sponsor before you will be allowed to participate.

You also must register with Rank One to complete the required paperwork in order to participate in 2020-2021. Depending on your medical history answers, you may be required to have a new physical if you have had a serious injury or illness within the past year.
