2019-2020 Academic Calendar Survey

The District’s Calendar Committee, comprised of parents, students, teachers and administrators, has spent the past several months developing the 2019-20 calendar, taking into consideration the needs of students, staff and families. The committee also factors in changes made at the state level with regards to the amount of time students are required to attend school. Comal ISD is asking students, parents and staff to provide feedback regarding their preferred choice for the 2019-20 academic calendar. The differences between the two calendar options are:

Draft A

  • School begins August 27 and ends May 28
  • Non-traditional days off in September (Fair Day), February (President's Day), and April (Battle of the Flowers)
  • Early release on Friday, December 20 for holiday break

Draft B
  • School begins August 27 and ends June 3**
  • Non-traditional days off in September(Fair Day), October (Columbus Day), February (President's Day), and April (Monday after Easter AND Battle of the Flowers)
  • Early release on Thursday, December 19 for holiday break
**Graduation is on May 30, 2020 prior to the last day of school. This is due to the facility availability for Strahan Colosseum.

You can view the two options by following the links below. After reviewing each option, please take a moment to tell us which option you prefer and provide your feedback using the survey link below. After the survey closes, revisions may be made to the favorable calendar to address feedback responses as well as requirements from the Texas Education Agency. The Board of Trustees will then ultimately have the final vote on the academic calendar.
