Ten Comal ISD Baseball Athletes Named All-Stars

June 30, 2021 - Ten Comal ISD baseball athletes received All-Star honors this year. Two were selected to the 5A/6A Elite All-Star South Team by the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association (THSBCA), and eight were selected for the San Antonio Area All-Star team by the San Antonio Area Baseball Coaches Association (SAABCA).

The recent graduates represented Comal ISD during the annual All-Star games including THSBCA’s All-Star game on June 20 at Dell Diamond in Round Rock and the SAABCA’s McCombs Ford West Senior Celebration All-Star game on June 21 at Wolff Stadium in San Antonio.

Four students represented the Canyon Lake High School Hawks from District 28-4A in the city-wide game including James LeLonde, Matt McLain, Peyton McMullen and Tyler Pauly. The Hawks, coached by Victor Escamilla, ended the year as bi-district champions.

The District 28-5A championship team, Canyon High School Cougars, was represented by Austin Stracener at short stop in the THSBCA’s All-Star game while teammates Chance Reisdorph and Michael Bassett played in the city-wide game. The Cougars were coached by Jim Blair this season.

The 6A state semi-finalists, Smithson Valley High School Rangers from District 27-6A, were represented by Brandon Taylor, as the pitcher in the THSBCA’s All-Star game, while teammates Garrett Brooks and Christian Keller played in the city-wide all-star game. The Rangers were coached by Chad Koehl this season.
