SVHS Student Awards

Date Description  
5/13/2013 SVHS Track & Field at the 2013 state meet! Zach Oliva is the state champion in the discus! Devin Clark is a silver medalist in the 3200 and a bronze medalist in the 1600! Cameron Jones placed 6th in the long jump and 8th in the triple jump! The mile relay team of Rachel Uecker, Anna Cozart, Olivia Pappas, and Kailey Riedel finished 9th. Everybody did a great job and represented our school as we would want to be represented. Thank you again for all of your support throughout the year. Go Rangers.

5/10/2013 A special congratulations goes out to Curtis Dodson and Austin McDonald who completed all objectives to receive a certification through the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). Both Austin & Curtis are trained in Emergency Rescue Protocols and will receive an official certificate through CERT.

5/7/2013 Smithson Valley High School sophomore Colton Anderson was recently named to the National Sporting Clays Association Krieghoff All-American Team for his accomplishments in the sport of skeet shooting. Of 25,000 competitors, only 210 received All-American status and only 60 of the 210 were high school students. Achieving this honor requires considerable personal commitment to a specific goal, many hours of practice, and exceptional skill. Colton is the son of Heidi and Matthew Anderson. He will receive special recognition at the National Sporting Clays Championship in San Antonio in October.

4/22/2013 Smithson Valley HS senior, Adriana Bermea, has been named Student of the Week by the San Antonio Express-News and KWEX-TV. Adriana was featured in the March 24th edition of the San Antonio Express-News for her accomplishments, which include being a National Hispanic Scholar, an active member French club, SVHS yearbook, and talented dancer. KWEX-TV plans to feature Adriana on the stationís newscast. She has been accepted into UT-Austin's prestigious Health Science Honors Program and will attend UT in the fall.

4/22/2013 The Smithson Valley Lady Ranger Golf team won big at the District 5-A Championship at Starcke Park on April 8 and Vaaler Creek on April 9 with Team I taking the championship and Team II taking runner up. Megan Woods won first place as an individual with a two-day total of 143 and Johany Rivera won second place as an individual with a two-day total of 146. Both teams will go on to Regionals at Brackenridge on April 17 and April 18.
