CLHS Interact Club donates time, denim in nationwide Teens for Jeans drive
Canyon Lake High student Gabby Nafus shows her enthusiasm for the “Teens for Jeans” drive by jumping for joy. Nafus is a member of the school’s Interact Club, which focuses on community outreach service projects. The Interact Club collected more than 115 pairs of jeans from classmates and community members recently. They were delivered to Aeropostale in the San Marcos Outlet Mall. From there, they will be delivered to shelters both locally and nationally. “There are 1.7 million homeless teens in the U.S. and the top item they request from shelters are jeans,” said CLHS teacher and Interact Club sponsor Claudette Cozzi. “All sizes are needed and everyone has a pair of jeans in their closet they no longer wear so it is real easy to donate.” For participating, Canyon Lake High will be eligible for scholarship drawings and other prizes. The Teens for Jeans drive has been extended until February 23. To date, Aeropostale has collected more than 2.5 million pairs of jeans at its stores nationwide. To contribute, you can simply drop off your donation at Canyon Lake High School. For more information, visit
