Where is Timberwood Park Elementary located?

When will the school open to students?

Timberwood Park Elementary will open its doors to students in August of 2008. While the first official school day for students is August 25, several Meet the Teacher Nights will be scheduled by grade level during the week of August 18-22. These nights will allow both students and parents to meet their child's teacher, the school staff and tour the facility.

How was the school's name selected?

Nominations for a school name were elicited from residents of CISD. Then, a committee consisting of parents from the area narrowed the nominations to 2-3 choices which were then presented to the Board of Trustees. During a regularly scheduled board meeting on October 30, 2006, the Comal Independent School District Board of Trustees voted to name its newest elementary school located in Bexar County, Timberwood Park Elementary.

What is the school mascot?

Nominations for the school mascot were first solicited from students and parents. Next, a committee consisting of school personnel, the area school board member and parents residing within the Timberwood Park Elementary boundary met to narrow these choices to three. The three selections were then voted on by parents and students who were slated to attend Timberwood Park Elementary. From this, the mascot selected was the Timberwood Tigers.

What are the school colors?

The school colors are red and silver with a black and white tiger.

What programs will be at Timberwood Park Elementary?

The Comal Independent School District is committed to providing high quality programs at all CISD schools. Therefore, Timberwood Park will continue the tradition of offering high quality elementary programs found at similar schools throughout the district.

What is the physical make up of the school?

Timberwood Park is Comal ISD's first two-story elementary school. The school is designed to serve up to 824 students in grades PK-5 and consists of:

  • 6 classrooms per grade level with K-2 on the first floor and 3rd-5th on the second floor
  • One air-conditioned gymnasium
  • Cafeteria
  • One science lab
  • One computer lab
  • Library
  • Art room
  • Music room
  • SAGE (Gifted and Talented) room
  • Instructional intervention room
  • Rooms for special programs including Behavior, Essential Academics PPCD and Speech
  • 2 playground areas and one playfield

How will the traffic flow in and out of the school?

The campus has two entrances. The bus and delivery entrance is located on the east side of the campus off of Sherwood Forest Drive. All other traffic will enter off of South Glenrose located at the front, or west side, of the campus. Procedures for student pick-up and drop off are being coordinated and will be released once complete.

Which middle school and high school will my child attend once completing 5th grade at Timberwood Park?

Once students have completed 5th grade, they will attend Spring Branch Middle School located near the intersection of 281 and Hwy. 46. Will there be bus service to Timberwood Park Elementary?

Normally school districts only offer bus service to students who live further than 2 miles away from the school. However, due to the school's location, all students within the Timberwood Park attendance zone will be eligible to ride the school bus.

Have other staff members been hired?

The staffing of the school is ongoing. Many faculty and staff have already been hired from campuses within Comal ISD. Outside applicants are currently being interviewed for the remaining positions. Once a campus website is complete, the faculty roster will be posted.

What time are the official school hours?

The school day is from 7:45 AM until 2:45 PM.

When does the tardy bell ring?

The tardy bell rings each morning at 7:45 AM. Students arriving to school after 7:45 AM will need to check in at the front office to receive a tardy pass before proceeding to class.

How can I get involved with the PTA?

The PTA is an essential part of the success of any school. We urge all parents to join this very important organization. The PTA will have a table set up during the Meet the Teacher Nights for anyone wishing to become a member.
