Principal's
Message:
Welcome to Canyon Middle School, home of the Mighty
Jaguars. CMS believes that if we all work together, we will create an atmosphere
that is conductive to learning and success. While 2007-2008 is going to be a an
extremely busy year, we hope to get to know all of our students and parents.
Obtaining
the coveted TEA Recognized Status is Canyon Middle School's primary goal for the
07-08 school year. With such high expectations, we believe that all of our students
will reach high levels of academic performance, while fostering positive growth
in behaviors and attitudes. Along with attaining their maximum educational potential,
we plan on preparing our students to be successful in the ever changing society
in which we live.
We encourage all of our students to get involved in
the many activities that are offered at CMS. The more involved your student becomes-the
more committed s/he will be to succeed. If you have any questions or ideas, please

Counselor's
Message:
Mr. Hutchison and Mrs. Ewell are available to students,
parents, and staff to help strengthen the educational process. The guidance program
at Canyon Middle School covers a broad span of activities. Services provided are
individual counseling, support groups, classroom presentations, and referral services.
Some of the topics covered by these services are coping skills, conflict resolution,
safety concerns, grief and loss, self-esteem, stress reduction, substance abuse,
anger management, family issues, crisis counseling, career choices, and educational
opportunities.
The testing program and after-school tutorials are under the supervision of the counselors. Special programs such as Gifted and Talented, 504, Bi-lingual schedules and Special Education referrals also receive the counselors' attention.
