Ask an Expert Page links students with experts who provide answers to questions via e-mail. Experts include academicians and business professionals in fields such as physical and life sciences, medicine and health, economics and marketing, math, and technology.

The Complete Works of William Shakespeare provide the full text of all of Shakespeare’s works, including comedy, tragedy, and poetry, in a searchable collection. Visitors can also find links to Shakespeare resources on the Internet, join a Shakespeare discussion group, and look for familiar Shakespeare quotations.

The History Channel offers a variety of resources including exhibits, games and events calendar, a history store, speeches, and a classroom. The History Channel Classroom provides a listing of television programs that middle and high school teachers can videotape and keep for up to a year, along with support materials including summaries, questions for discussion, lesson plans, and class activities

Windows to the Universe is a guide about earth and space sciences. Includes documents, movies, and data to illuminate the links between the study of the heavens and human history.

Atlapedia Online contains basic profiles of every country in the world. Includes facts on location and geography, climate, language, religion, ethnicities, modern history, currency, and industry.

Gallery of Interactive Geometry allows students to explore interesting areas of mathematics through interactive exhibits.

The Interactive Frog Dissection is an on-line tutorial designed to help high school biology students understand the anatomy of vertebrate animals. Provides still and motion visuals as well as text.

KidsConnect is a question-answering and referral service for kindergarten through twelfth grad students, designed to help students access and effectively use the information available on the Internet. Students contact KidsConnect with a question via e-mail which is then passed on to volunteer library media specialists from around the world. Library media specialists respond to questions within 48 hours with appropriate source referrals and/or short factual answers.

Passport to Knowledge is a series of interactive electronic field trips to remote locations such as the Arctic or the middle of the ocean. Learning materials are made available through the Internet as well as through broadcast television and videotape. Sponsored by NASA.

Whale Times includes interesting facts about whales, links to students’ studying whales, and environmental tips.

Vocabulary University provides free, interactive, grade 4-12 level vocabulary word puzzles. There’s thematic monthly content, puzzles using Latin & Greek roots, election-year vocabulary words are previewed in comic strip form while cartoon faculty members help students learn. Learning Network is an outstanding news-oriented education site for grades 6-12, offering valuable up-to-date content for students, teachers and parents. In addition to daily features, news summaries, and content quizzes, the site provides monthly packages on current events such as "Modern Immigration" and the "Cloning Debate," as well as historic events such as "The Launch of Sputnik" and "Little Rock Remembered."

Crayola Art Education offers a variety of creative art activities for students from preschool through primary grades, with related information for teachers and parents (including stain removal tips!). The site offers instruction on art techniques, craft and project ideas, online stories, a "Poetry Place," "Artists Corner," multimedia games , and lesson plans with a searchable directory.

While NASA has a variety of Web sites that are useful for teachers and students, Quest, and Spacelink are particularly valuable. Both sites offer links to online space-related interactive projects, multimedia resources, news and live events. Spacelink also includes an extensive library on topics such as astronauts, space missions, and the Hubble Telescope.

Highlights of the College Board Online include a SAT question of the day, SAT test-taking tips, a schedule of SAT test dates, ways to register for the SAT exam, plus some helpful advice about choosing a college. If you are looking for practice questions, however, you’ll be disappointed.
