Due in part to a lot of hard work by our PE Teacher, Summer Gault, Timberwood Park was chosen to receive a Healthy Schools Award by the Alliance for a Healthier Generation’s Healthy Schools Program.
The Alliance for a Healthier Generation, founded by the American Heart Association and the William J. Clinton Foundation, will recognize the following schools for transforming their campus into a healthier place for students and staff.
Comal Independent School District
Timberwood Park Elementary School
To earn this award, schools enhanced their meal service and physical activity programs to meet or exceed stringent standards set by the Alliance for a Healthier Generation’s Healthy Schools Program, which provides expert advice and free resources to more than 12,000 schools nationwide to help them reverse the national trend in childhood obesity. Schools are eligible for Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum National Recognition Awards based on their level of achievement. |

2010-2011 Honorary Texas Life Membership recipients: Sharon Cumberland, Jose Gonzales and Tanya Taylor.
Since 1909 the Texas PTA has made available the Honorary Texas Life Membership as one of the highest honors that may be presented to individuals for outstanding service to children and youth. Life Memberships may be conferred at any time by local, council, area or state PTAs. The recipient does not have to be a PTA member nor must the service for which the honor has been bestowed be connected with the PTA. The only requirement for receiving a Texas PTA Honorary Life Membership is that the recipient is making or has made a worthwhile contribution to the well-being of children and youth. |

Timberwood Park Elementary School teacher Jennifer White was honored as Comal ISD’s KENS5 San Antonio Credit Union ExCEL Award winner in a ceremony at TPES. She received the Golden Apple Award from KENS5 and a check for $1,000 from SACU.
