MVMS Hawk Families,
This first week of November marks the last week of the 2nd 6-week grading period. Please check your student’s grades via txConnect and contact teachers regarding any grade concerns you have prior to Friday, November 7th. Our students are encouraged to use the morning tutoring in the library, held Monday – Friday between 7:45 & 8:15, for homework assistance as needed. A math teacher and an ELA teacher facilitate this tutoring each day, as well as student volunteer tutors. After school homework assistance is available in room 107 from 4:00-5:45 Monday – Wednesday. Our MVMS teachers are available for more specific tutoring and are more than willing to schedule tutoring before and/or after school with any student who needs additional assistance. Students are encouraged to coordinate with their teacher to schedule tutoring time(s) as our teachers have work and family obligations they must work around.
We invite you to join us during your child’s lunch on Veterans Day, Tuesday, November 11th, as we honor those who have served in the armed forces. More details are provided in the newsletter.
District developed Common Assessments are scheduled for the week of November 17 – 21. It is very important that all students are present each day during the week of common assessments as their assessments not only count as a grade, but serve as important data utilized by our teachers to determine the concepts our students have mastered and those that need to be retaught.
All CISD campuses will be closed the week of November 24 – 28 for Thanksgiving break. I know I speak for all MVMS staff when I say that we are truly thankful for the opportunity to be a part of your student’s lives, and the continued community support.
It is with a heavy heart that I announce that Mr. Kagey will be leaving MVMS in November to pursue new career opportunities. His contributions to our community and school are numerous, and we will all feel his absence. I will make certain that our new assistant principal will be chosen based on the needs of our campus and community to ensure the highest level of continuity possible.
If I can ever be of assistance don’t hesitate to contact me.
