Cristina Popescu, a third grade teacher at Goodwin Frazier Elementary, was recently selected to join the Apple Distinguished Educator (ADE) Program. Popescu is the first-ever ADE for not only Comal ISD but in the greater San Antonio area. Popescu joined the new ADE class of 2011 in Phoenix at Arizona State University’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication, an amazing venue for innovation and creativity. With the backdrop of the Cronkite School’s sound stages, recording studios, and the modern learning environment, ADEs from around the United States gathered for a week of collaboration with Apple Education board members and members of Apple’s cooperate offices July 17-22. She was one of only 76 newly selected members of the ADE Program nationwide in 2011. Her induction into the ADE Program is a lifelong appointment. |

The 2012 Goodwin Frazier Teacher of the Year is Amy Ludzenski. This is Mrs. Ludzenski’s 16th year teaching students in pre-kindergarten through first grade. She is currently a kindergarten teacher at GFES. |
