We are currently NOT accepting any more Substitute Teacher Applications at this time.
Please check back in the fall.
Due to the implementation of Senate Bill 9, also known as the “Fingerprinting Bill”, which was passed by the 80th Legislature, school districts are to obtain state and national criminal history background searches on all new employees who will have direct contact with students. SB9 authorizes and requires that criminal history information reviews be conducted for all educators and school employees, including all certified and currently employed educators, as well as all substitute teachers, school employees, and all non-certified school employees hired after January 1, 2008.
Once a substitute applicant attends a monthly orientation, the applicant will receive a “FAST” (Fingerprinted-based Applicant Clearinghouse of Texas) Fingerprint Pass and will need to go to the FAST website (or call a toll free number) and make an appointment for the fingerprinting. The cost of the fingerprinting is $50.20 for the applicant. Then the individual must take the FAST Fingerprint Pass to the FAST appointment. At the appointment, the applicant will need to provide a valid Texas Driver License or identification card. The FAST operator will use a livescan fingerprinting device to take electronic fingerprints of the applicant. The total appointment will normally take less than 10 minutes. The District will be notified of the results and will determine your employment.
