Speech Therapy in CISD...

What is a Speech-Language Pathologist(SLP)?

Speech-Language Pathologists (SLP), sometimes informally referred to as Speech Therapists, are the professionals educated to assess and treat speech and language disorders.  Speech Language Pathologists also assist people with swallowing disorders.

Speech-Language Pathologists within the school setting work with diagnostic and educational evaluation teams to provide comprehensive language and speech assessments for students.  Services to students may be provided in individual or small group sessions, in classrooms, teaming with teachers, or in a consultative model with parents and teachers. Student’s speech-language goals are integrated with academic outcomes and functional performance.
