"Supporting Success One Student at a Time" |
Parent/Community Involvement |
Comal Independent School District is committed to the goal of providing a quality education for every child enrolled in its schools. Recognizing that parental involvement is the key to academic achievement, we seek to involve parents in an effective home-school partnership that will provide the best possible education for our students.
The district encourages parent involvement and supports this partnership by providing information about standards and assessments; providing training and materials for parents to help their children; educating school personnel about involving parents and the value of parent contributions; and developing roles of community organizations and businesses to work with parents and schools.
Providing all Comal ISD students with equal access to quality education is of primary purpose. It is critical that all partners (students, parents, educators, and communities) have the opportunity to provide input and offer resources to meet this purpose.
School board members often times have final authority on decisions affecting schools and the district. Members represent the entire school district even though they are elected from seven single-member districts. The duties and powers of the school board are spelled out in board policy BAA (LEGAL) (http://www.tasb.org/policy/pol/private/046902/pol.cfm?DisplayPage=BAA(LEGAL).pdf)
