Screening and Assessments for Students
Comal ISD has dyslexia screening and assessment in place for students in grades K-12. Kindergarten teachers use a screening tool that measures phonological awareness skills and student reading progress is carefully tracked and monitored in the primary grades. If dyslexia is suspected, referral for intervention and possible assessment is made through the campus Response to Intervention (R & I) Team.
Dyslexia Support Teachers and Technology
Website |
Comal ISD employs several Dyslexia Support Teachers who serve students identified as dyslexic at the elementary campuses. Teachers are also trained at the middle and high school levels to meet the needs of dyslexic students. Campuses tailor each student's reading program to fit individual needs.
