Anyone who wants to know the basic laws that apply to everyday life, or who is planning a career in any area of business or legal profession, such as Court Reporter, Legal Secretary, Paralegal, or Lawyer this is the class for YOU! Topics covered include: civil and criminal law, internal law, contract and employment law, school law, and law for the minor. Students will enjoy participating in roles of juror, witness, plaintiff, defendant, attorney, school administrator, business owner, employee and employer while participating in activities such as simulations and mock trials. Students will take a field trip to the County Courts, and area attorneys and judges are among some of the speakers who are invited to the class.

International Business will allow you to understand the skills necessary to conduct business in today’s rapidly changing global economy. Students will understand cultural differences and how to conduct business transactions with individuals in other countries. In addition, students will have the opportunity to learn from guest speakers who are currently involved in the exciting world of international business.

This course is a project-based research course for students who have the ability to research a real world problem. Students develop a project on a topic related to a career interest in this cluster, use scientific methods of investigation to conduct in depth research, matched with a mentor from the business or professional community, compile findings, and present their findings to an audience that includes experts in the field. To attain academic success, students must have opportunities to learn reinforce, apply and transfer their knowledge, skills and technologies in a variety of settings. This course is designed to provide students an opportunity to earn one advanced measure for the Distinguished Achievement Program.

Would you like to be a Student/Office Aide and get credit for all your hard work? By taking Business Management you’ll be working in one of our high school’s offices and also earning high school credit in your Business Management class. As an Office Aide, you will be assisting the school’s various offices in accomplishing their duties, such as: acting as messengers, greeting visitors, and organizing materials for distribution, and many other clerical duties. The Business Management class will prepare you to be a vital member of today’s office team. As an Office Aide, you will be equipped with the latest technology, communication, and professional skills.

Students will experience the working world through an educationally managed agreement between the employer, the student, and their employer. Workplace skills with an emphasis on current technology, and Personal Development skills relating to self-esteem, self-improvement, positive attitudes, communication, resolving conflict, work ethics, and working with others are emphasized. This class serves as the major vehicle for cooperative education. Students must furnish their own transportation in order to travel to their employment.
