Highlights: Comal ISD received 58 Gold Performance Acknowledgement (GPA) awards; The board voted to accept a proposal from Hellas Construction Company to replace the synthetic fields at Canyon and Smithson Valley high schools; For the fifth straight year, Comal ISD has been able to report 100 percent of its teachers meet Highly Qualified status; Construction and Middle School Curriculum Updates.
Curriculum Report: The College and Career Readiness Curriculum (CCRC) in science and social studies will begin in 2011-12 for all three middle school grade levels. Math and English-Language Arts will be phased in over a three-year period from 2011-2014. Middle school students will be engaged in high-level learning through which they develop the skills, habits of mind, and concepts needed to succeed in college.
