The Comal Independent School District is an outstanding educational system offering first-class instructional programs in a family friendly environment. It is a place where your children will be successful.

Our district was created in 1956 and encompasses almost 600 square miles of the beautiful Texas Hill Country. Some of our schools are in New Braunfels while others are in the communities of Sattler (near Canyon Lake), Spring Branch, Smithson Valley, and Bulverde. We presently have 15,000 students in 18 schools and we're a fast growing district.  We are growing by about 1,000 students a year.

The 1999 bond issue included a new high school for the Canyon Lake area and Canyon Lake High School opens in August 2007.  It is being built north of the lake at FM 3424 and RR32.  See our website for more information.

The 2005 bond issue is allowing us to build six new schools, convert others, renovate some, and buy more school buses. We're also upgrading our technology and buying land for future schools thanks to the $189 million bond package.

Our goal is to keep the schools small enough for teachers and administrators to have quality instructional time with your children. We pride ourselves on a strong academic program that includes classes for the gifted/talented, advanced placement classes, and career and technology courses.

Comal ISD is a Chapter 41, or property-rich district, under the current state funding formula. As a result, it sent $3.2 million in local tax revenues to the state for distribution to property poor districts in 2004-2005; more than $6 million in 2005-06; more than $6.8 million in 2006-07; and, more than $4.6 million is projected in 2007-08.

Take a look at us, visit our schools, join our family, and I know you will be proud of what our staff and students are doing to make us a highly acclaimed school district.
